And then I feel a little hope.

On 11 June 2009, my son Zachary graduated High School. I am a proud parent, it is true, but even better is the fact that Zack is a genuinely good man who has the desire to make the world around him a better place. Even if he weren't my son, I would admire his personality; the fact he is my son just makes me more proud.

I am of course not the only proud parent here.

Congratulations my son. Now go to college.

"Let parents bequeath to their children not riches, but the spirit of reverence."

Job well done, Dan and Jennifer, but don't think it's over. you can't even afford much more than a quick sigh of relief.

As parents, you will be influencing, teaching, managing, advising, loving, healing, reprimanding, seething at and praying for your children until the day you die.

As proud as you are now, I know it can and probably will get much, much better as these wonderful kids grow, mature, gain wisdom & compassion and navigate life with the optimism and hope of youth as they search to fathom the mystery of the 'why'.

You two have set Zack on a straight path into the future that will twist and turn and fork with adventures. I have no doubt that he will have an incredible journey.

Love to you and Congratulations to Zack!
